Hi.
Are you sure they will work on 2008R2, too? All posts i've read say, that they won't. But I didn't try it yet.

So have you experiences with 2008R2?

Rgds,

You can install POP Collector as a service from within the program itself - have you tried this? It does require two tools from the Windows 2003 resource kit, but I have verified that it works correctly on Windows 2008, so this is the simplest way to install as a service.

Hello.
I used the follwing command to create the service:

sc create POPSauger binpath= "C:\program files (X86)\pop collector\popcollector.exe"

The Result is a Service in the Services Panel. When I try to start the service it runs in a timeout with:

The POPSauger service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Troubleshooting:
I copied the String "C:\program files (X86)\pop collector\popcollector.exe" into the Run Box and the Program works.

Any Ideas why the Service doesn't start?

Thanks,
Schwemmi

Have you RV2 logging on the site? If you could, and put it into debug mode, then it should shed some light. If the blocking is working but the registration isn't, then it is most likely to be a conflict with another component.

I can have a look directly if you like, I'd need access to the admin backend. If you want me to do this then please set me up a temporary admin account and email me the details - I will look as soon as I can.

Hi,

We have purchased, installed and configured CEDIT Registration Validator 2 for Joomla 1.5 on our website.

For configuration we followed the Recommendations given in
http://www.cedit.biz/joomla-extensions/17-registration-validator-2/54-recommended-settings
Exactly.

All valid registrations have stopped on our site.

Regretfully, valid Email Ids can no longer register with our website.

On clicking of the Register button on the Joomla registration page, after a few seconds waiting the Joomla registration page is redisplayed and the user is not registered with our website.

Normally for a good registration, the user will be returned to the index page with a message indicating that an Email has been sent to the Email Id provided, to validate the registration.

When we test using spammer Email Ids that we have accumulated from the past by checking the Email Id in Google, it is being correctly flagged as a spam Email Id and the registration is being prevented by CEDIT Registration Validator 2.

If we disable the CEDIT Registration Validator 2 - registrations work normally BUT we loose the protection of CEDIT Registration Validator 2.

Our website URL is: http://www.opensourcevarsity.com

Please help.

There isn't much of a roadmap for this yet, I am having difficulty enough implementing a file browser (at least, replacing the existing file browser with a nicer AJAX one that is also open source). Once I have got this done and the first proper release, I will look at adding other features (and ensuring J!1.6 support), including this one.

Hi
The main reason I use the JCE editor, is because I can create groups and define which editing functions each group can have. Is this something that is planned?

An IP range is simply a series of IP addresses. So, blocking 121.54.54.* would block any IP address starting with 121.54.54 (i.e. 121.54.54.1, 121.54.54.2 up to 121.54.54.255).

RV2 tries to obtain the user's actual IP address, but this is not always possible. There are many ways to mask your IP address (e.g. anonymising proxy servers), and these will simply not provide the information. In these cases, the IP determined by RV2 will in fact be the proxy server, so blocking that IP will also block anyone else using that proxy server (though depending upon which proxy server it is, this may not be entirely undesirable).

hi,

thank you for your respose..

i did the right thing, what i did was add the username Elite and ip address 121.54.54.. but i am not sure if 121.54.54 is applicable to block ip address..i also block the domain name that they use, for sure it will not affect a lot of user because its not really know here in our country.

And i think, this is the problem: "user without blocking others" using the ip address. I am not sure if someone will affect. Is there anyway that i can see if they are still trying to register in my website?

Sorry, but i really have no idea what is the difference of Ip address and IP range?or they are same?

And how the user can get new ip address?without using other connection..

There are a few options, but the difficulty here is trying to block this particular user without blocking others.

The IPs you have listed are all in the same block - assuming that these are the only IPs you have seen used, you could add 121.54.54.* to the IP blocklist - this would block any IP that started with the first three octets.

You could also add a username block, maybe Team Elite*, or *elite*.

Unfortunately both the above blocks are not too difficult to get around, but it is very difficult to try to block a user anyway. It is very easy to get a new email address, IP, and username - in which case any blocks will be bypassed.
