I want to add a space under my log in box, currently it looks a bit squished.
Where do I look to do that?

This will be to do with your registration component, or standard Joomla registration - Registration Validator isn't actually involved in any display. It may be that you can adjust the spacing by editing your site template, but it does depend entirely on which component is creating the login module and how it is generated.

If the login box is a standard module, then you should be able to adjust the moduletable style - every module is in it's own such div. Only thing to note is that it will affect all modules, not just the login one.

I've turned off the joomla registration and am using Kunena so its that part in the screen shot.

If you use Firefox, the quickest way to find which style you need to modify is to use Firebug. You can right-click over the log-in box then "Inspect Element". It will show you what css styles are applying to the element (and you can change them on the fly, so you can work out the changes you need to make to your stylesheet). Kunena is also CSS based, so should be the same theory (just different stylesheet!).
