TOPIC: More than one footer

More than one footer 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

is it possible to:

1. place more than 1 article footer in all the articles? I would like to place (beneath each article) some kind of warning in the first one and e.g. ad-sense to the second one.

2. resize the AF format (i.e. to set the sizes of AF, especially width)? My AF is a little bit wider than the article is, so it looks a kind of curved.

And finally, I found the Article Footer being very useful, so thanks for it.

1. If both footers are to be applied to all articles, couldn't you just combine both footers? That is all that the extension would be able to do anyway.

2. This isn't possible as the display/placement of the footer is entirely dependent upon the article and the template. You may be able to make the adjustments you need by using css.

Hi Dave,

what exactly do you mean by "combine both footers"?
I tried to place my warning and Adsense in one AF and it worked, but I would prefer to have it in 2 separate footers. That would be useful especially if the 2 various footers shouldn't be placed in the same articles.
You can make copies of all the Joomla Modules and use them as many times as you want, but AF is a Plug-in, so unfortunatelly you can't do the same.

Thanks, Peter

I was wondering if that was what you meant after I replied!

The only solution I can think of would be to have a second plugin with a different name - Joomla checks the name during install. So long as the name is different, the plugin could be duplicated as needed.

To change the name you could search for the text cedit_articlefooter within the two main files (cedit_articlefooter.php and cedit_articlefooter.xml) and replace it (with, for example, cedit_articlefooter2 - or anything you like really).

I could have a look at providing a download with a different name, won't be able to do this until sometime later though.

Hi David,

I still had some problems after re-name, so decided to make some changes in the .php and .xml files. It works now. I attach the file so it can help some others.
File Attachment:
File Name: ArticleFooter_2.zip
File Size: 3728

The possibility to format and align the inserted text would be great, too. And I'm wondering whether it is difficult to prepare some kind of "Article Header". That could be very useful, as well.

Thanks for posting the update - I'll take a look later!

The article footer supports any HTML - so you can add any alignment or formatting options you like (either using CSS, or inline HTML). Just enter the relevant HTML code in the article footer stuff.

I thought about an article header too, but didn't look much into it as I didn't have any use for one. It should be a case of simply trapping a different event (one that fires before the article is prepared instead of after).
