When executing the "Run Rules..." dialog, the process hangs and eventually crashes MS Outlook 2003.

Rules can only be "run" by individually processing each E-mail message with the "Process Item" button on the tool bar. Needless to say this is a very big inconvenience if there are 20 or more E-mails in the inbox that need to be processed after Outlook is started up.

If the messages are in the inbox, then they should be automatically processed. Rules Manager watches the inbox and sent items and will process new messages in those folders. If it isn't do this, ensure that they are ticked under options.

I will look into the crash issue when manually running rules. Are you using Exchange or stand-alone Outlook?

Thanks for reporting this issue. I have found and fixed the error, and the updated version will be available for download shortly. I just need to complete some more testing before releasing it.

The installation effectively freezes Outlook 2007 (running on Windows7 RC1). I can see the Outlook windows from the pinned icon on the taskbar, but when I Alt-Tab there are NO Outlook windows there. Also, I can bring up an Outlook window but cannot bring it to the foreground. So nI havec now uninstalled your program until this issue can be resolved.

I am particularly interested in the possibility of archiving emails by year of receipt/send which your program seems to say that it does.

I have just got hold of Windows 7 myself, so will set up a machine to test this. There were issues with Vista originally, so it may be something similar.

Actually, does the same thing for me on Outlook 2007 with remote Exchange account, on Vista x64 SP2, with version 1.5.7 of RM... and I do so like the product !!

I haven't got an x64 machine to test on - was the Windows 7 problem on a 32 bit machine? I'll be able to test on Windows 7 against Outlook 2007 next week, so I'll update then.

As far as I am aware, all the problems listed in this thread are now fixed in the latest version 1.8.3.

It has been tested under Vista, Windows 7, and Outlook 2003 and 2007. Additionally, a language problem has been fixed whereby Rules Manager didn't work on any none-English system.
