I'm using ver 1.3.3 which seems to be working intermittently.

The last log post is below. Since that time, we've received two "spam" forms: one at 9:39 PM and one at 11:17 PM.

This morning I submitted a test form and that was not logged in the file.

RV is currently set to 0--system-legacy; should it be set as something else?

The most likely cause of intermittent functionality is if there is more than one way of registering on the site, and RV only supports one of them. As an example, a while ago I noticed similar issues on a test site and it turns out that one of the components had its own registration process. RV wasn't aware of that, so if someone registered using that link, they would bypass all the checks.

Bots often work by determining what the site is based on (e.g. Joomla, Drupal, or whatever) and then using a set of predefined ways of registering (often just posting registration data directly to a URL). What this means is that even if a third party component doesn't have it's registration page published, unless it is explicitly disabled a bot could still use it to sign up.

To establish if this is happening, you will need to look at your server logs. As you have two bot sign-ups, this will help you narrow down the timeframe. Look at the URLs that were used by the bots, and compare them to the expected registration URL.

Hope the above helps - I can't think of any other reason to explain why RV would not work constantly.
