Apparently I had 1.1.1 installed on a 1.5.11 Joomla setup. Was working just fine, but then I was notified that new folks trying to sign up would get a stream of errors like those in bold below.

So, I simply determined it was an old version and upgraded to the latest one here on file. Didn't touch Joomla at this point, RV is set to 0 on Extension>System rankings, etc. so all of that I could find here is set properly.

The list gets worse if I turn on more checking features, right now only the DNS and BotScout setups are on because I found out undisposable.net or whatever that is wasn't responding at all from multiple points. I thought that was part of the reason, but have since determined it wasn't directly related.

So what variables are these, why can't they be defined and how do I get rid of them? It appears I can still use the feature partially to block out domains, ID's and IPs, etc. but I'd like to use more of what's available in this upgraded version and obviously I don't want to see the stream of garbage nor do I want any of my clients seeing it and freaking out on me.

I checked perms, all of that appears fine though setting the plugins Dir to 755 didn't make any difference so it appears it's trying to call and define these (and maybe others) somewhere else that a simple perms change might do the trick.

Biggiest 'weird' part of this is that it has been fine for months and months? No real changes to the software, so that ruled out someone installing something that could conflict with it. But people signed up without a hitch and one day - no more.

I don't want to upgrade Joomla just yet unless it's mandatory but nothing about RV says it has to be a newer version?

I can update RV so that the notices aren't displayed. They come from the function that retrieves the user's IP address - it uses various environment variables to obtain the IP address, and the notices you are seeing are because some of them don't exist. RV goes through various which means it can usually pick up the IP address even if the user is using a proxy server or similar.

Note that PHP should be configured NOT to display notices or warnings on a production site (these notices are not problems, just information that the values are not available).

The latest version (1.2.1) introduces timeouts for HTTP requests (these are used for Undisposable, Botscout, StopForumSpam) - Undisposable has always been flaky, unfortunately.

Every now and again someone reports this issue - nothing changes, but registrations stop. I always run the latest RV release on my site, and have always had a constant stream of registrations, so I haven't been affected by any issues.

I will update RV to allow user-definable timeout (you may want to reduce it to one second) and also add a debug log option so that in the event of issues it will become obvious where the problem lies. I'll look at this today and see if I can get the update done ASAP.

Note that I do tend to upgrade Joomla to the latest version - but RV should work in any 1.5 version, there is nothing in it that is version specific. I am currently on 1.5.14 (haven't upgraded yet).

1.2.2 is now released.

You can now enable logging - just enter a logfile name in the plugin parameters, and all RV activity will be logged to this file. This should help a huge amount in determining if there are any issues.

I've also included configurable HTTP timeout, and fixed the notices that you are seeing on your site. Please download this version and enable logging, and post back with results.
